    With Más+Millie's Virtual Beginner's Calligraphy, you will join Chicago ink artisan Becka Bravo on Zoom to learn the basic tools + concepts needed to kick start your exploration into the beautiful art form that is Copperplate, pointed pen calligraphy. Becka will guide you step-by-step through the forming of basic shapes + letterforms, including a full lower + uppercase modern Copperplate alphabet, all from the comfort of your home.
     
    From there, you may move on to our Intermediate + Advanced classes! Take your foundational skills + build on them as Becka leads you through connecting letterforms, expanding your style, addressing envelopes, mixing inks + using new tools, like the oblique pen holder.  
     
    *** All supplies (listed below) are included + will be delivered to you! Depending upon which class you register for, you will recieve a new kit customized to that session! Always feel free to include any supplies you have used in the past or are currently using in your virtual experience, including any prior Más+Millie Calligraphy Kits. 
     
    Make sure you download the newest version of the Zoom app prior to class. A laptop or computer connection is preferred to your cell phone.

    • SUPPLIES

      Unlike our in-person workshops, you may have to place a separate order for your supply kit. Items to create your Mas+Millie Beginner's Kit have been curated for you with the help of the amazing team at Paper Ink Arts:

      You will need to purchase:

      • an E+M straight pen holder
      • at least 1 pointed G nib (I prefer you use a Tachikawa G)
      • Kuretake sumi ink
      • Layout Bond practice paper

      You will be sent a link to download your Más+Millie Modern Calligraphy for Beginners Guidebook once your registration has been confirmed. If you are unable to print at home, please contact me directly + we can work something out on a case-by-case basis.

      Additional items required for class:

      • small bowl of water
      • paper towels or lint free cloth
      • lighter, matches or some source of fire
      • artist or Washi tape, optional

      NEW: IF YOU LIVE IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA  I will have a limited stock of full Más+Millie Modern Calligraphy Starter Kits available for pickup. If you prefer this option, the cost of your kit will be included in your registration. We will need to arrange a time for you to pick up your kit at the studio in Avondale/West Lakeview area. Simply choose the LOCAL PICK-UP class option!

       

       

    • RETURN/REFUND POLICY

      If you are unable to attend your chosen virtual session, please provide us 24 hours notice to reschedule your class.

      Typically, refunds are not allowed for workshop registration, though extenuating circumstances may be considered. Custom kits are nonrefundable. Full or partial refunds for virtual sessions may be considered individually on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at becka@masandmillie.com

    • WORKSHOP LOCATION

      The comfort + safety of your own home.

      We will be using the ZOOM app for all online sessions. Please be sure to have the lastest version of the app downloaded prior to class.  

      A laptop or desk computer connection if preferred to (more reliable than) your phone or tablet. 

    • PRIVATES + SEMI-PRIVATES

      If you are signing up for a private or semi-private session, simply select that option + you will recieve a direct follow up email from Becka to arrange the details of your Zoom session. If you have not yet discussed your private session with Becka, it is recommended you do so in advance. Private sessions are scheduled based on availability.
